About Fowler’s Chocolates
Fowler’s Chocolates is a celebrated Western New York institution, known as the original maker of Buffalo’s famous Sponge Candy. With five retail locations across the region and an online store, Fowler’s offers a wide variety of fine confections, including Almond Butter Crunch, Sea Salt Caramels, Chocolate-Covered Popcorn, and Assorted Truffles. Dedicated to serving its community, Fowler’s also provides options for corporate gifts, weddings, and fundraising for individuals and organizations.
The story of Fowler's Chocolate began in 1901 with a young entrepreneur by the name of Joseph A. Fowler. After living in England and Canada, Joseph traveled to Buffalo, NY in order to attend the Pan American Exposition. At the exposition, he created and sold a small variety of chocolate confections and sweets. The instant acceptance of his products, along with great encouragement from his patrons, inspired Joseph to pursue candy making as a career. With his brother, Claude, Joseph opened a small candy store in Buffalo.
In 1993, Buffalo natives Randy and Ted Marks acquired the company, moving it to its current location on River Rock Drive. Fowler’s has operated out of its River Rock Drive factory since 1994. Advancements in technology and production have allowed the company to transition from a seasonal maker of Sponge Candy to a year-round production facility, now crafting more than 35,000 pounds of Sponge Candy annually.
Today, Fowler’s continues to honor its rich heritage while delighting generations with timeless, handcrafted chocolates.
